Ex-governor Godwill Akpabio is currently being questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged misapproprition.
Akpabio, who is currently serving as senator, was arrested about 5:20pm today. Reports say he is being accompanied by some aides and a senior advocate of Nigeria.
Akpabio is being questioned for alleged misappropriation of Akwa Ibom State totalling billions of naira.
From 2007 to May 29, 2015 when he Akpabio was in charge, the state received close to N2b allocation from the Federation Account.
Akpabio is the first southern ex-governor to be arrested by the EFCC during the current anti-corruption war.
